What Is the Clean 15?
The “Clean 15” is a list of fruits and vegetables that typically contain the lowest levels of pesticide residue. These foods tend to have natural protective layers—such as thick skins or peels—or are grown in ways that result in less pesticide use overall.
For people trying to balance health, budget, and accessibility, the Clean 15 offers reassurance. It suggests which produce items are generally safe to buy in conventional (non-organic) form without significantly increasing pesticide exposure.
Like the Dirty Dozen, the Clean 15 isn’t meant to cause worry or restrict choice. Instead, it’s a practical tool—helping you decide where organic purchases may matter most, and where they may matter less.
